Art Update
Characters:
Joy and Moody are both moving! Both characters are undergoing some weight paint fixes as well as texture and detail updates. Animation on NPCs has begun.
Interior:
Improved the models for some of the kitchen appliances, and tested out a painted texture for the fire extinguisher and counters:
Creatures:
Seagull retextured with wings animated, and crab animated.
UI:
Stress bar and QTE bar, Joy and Moody icons were made.
Gameplay Update
UI:
We implemented multiple different UI systems with more final assets. This includes:
- The microgame bar
- The appliances and fire extinguisher shown above
- The beach/sea assets
We also added new UI elements. For instance, now before the level starts we get the players to confirm both controllers are connected.
We also added the controls to the pause menu. This should help during future playtesting sessions.
Sea:
We added the ability for players to extinguish themselves in the sea.
Animations:
We imported and created some basic state machines for our character animations.
Stability:
We implemented a major refactor to improve performance and reduce bugs. This consolidated many scripts so that they are no longer conflicting. Additionally, we cached many variables and switched from using Update to FixedUpdate.
Balancing:
In accordance with the alpha feedback that we’d received, we have been implementing changes to help new players acclimate to Baked better and to scale difficulty. This includes tying the spawning rate of customers and the complexity of order recipes to the game clock, stress, current number of customers, and number of scene objects currently inflamed around the kitchen. In the coming week we will tune these values to accommodate a better level of difficulty for players.
